Deleting Your TripSplit Account
You're always in control of your account and your data. You can delete your TripSplit account, and the personal data attached to it, at any time. Here's how.
Option 1: Delete It In the App
The quickest way is from inside TripSplit:
- Open TripSplit.
- Tap on the Account icon in the top right.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm when prompted.
That's it. The deletion process starts straight away.
Option 2: Ask Us to Delete It
Prefer us to handle it? Email contact@kloopy.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We'll take care of the rest and confirm once it's done.
What Happens Next
- A 14-day grace period. Once deletion is requested, we begin a 14-day cooling-off period in case you change your mind. If you don't log back in within those 14 days, your data erasure is finalised. Logging back in cancels the deletion.
- Your personal details are erased. When deletion is finalised, your name, email address are permanently and irreversibly removed from our systems.
- Group balances stay accurate. So the maths still adds up for the people you travelled with, your past expense splits and settlements remain in the group but are fully anonymised and shown simply as "Deleted User". They're no longer linked to you.
A Few Things Worth Knowing
- Deleting your account removes your account. It doesn't delete trips or expenses for the other people in your groups.
- Deletion is permanent once the 14-day period passes we can't recover an erased account.
- This is separate from simply uninstalling the app. Removing the app from your phone doesn't delete your account; follow the steps above to do that.
